Welcome to UNC Chapel Hill Hillel!

UNC Hillel, located at 210 W Cameron Ave, is the place for the Jewish Tar Heels to gather, spend holidays together, and explore their Judaism. We offer a multitude of events throughout the school year from weekly Shabbats to game night watch parties. Come in and say hi!

  • There are approximately 1,000 Jewish students at UNC Chapel Hill (about 5% of the total student population).

  • The UNC Hillel building will be open from 12-6pm Monday-Friday during the school year. If you would like to use the space between 10am-12pm or reserve a space for a group project or study session please contact us using the form below.

  • While there are no Kosher meal plans at UNC, our kitchen is certified as Kosher and our chef is knowledgeable in the rules of Kashrut. We normally provide weekly Friday night meals and holiday meals at no charge to our students.

  • We are proud of our close partnerships with other Jewish student groups on campus.

    AEPi (the Jewish fraternity) and SRL (the Jewish-interest sorority) have active UNC chapters.

    The Carolina Center for Jewish Studies offers a B.A. with a concentration in Jewish Studies, a Jewish Studies minor, and a Hebrew Minor.

  • Our staff lead a ten-week seminar on Jewish topics ranging from "Sex, Love, and Romance" to "Life's Big Questions." Israel Fellow Hila Banay offers six week sessions on different Israel topics. These seminars give students an opportunity to grow intellectually and spiritually and to find out how Jewish values can inform their lives.

    Other Jewish learning opportunities include frequent pop up learning events led by staff and students.

  • Our Birthright buses include students from across North Carolina and is a great opportunity to meet other Jewish North Carolinians. Learn more about our Israel trips here.
